Remembrance Sunday 10 November 2013 - Sermon by the Very Revd Fr Simon Aiken, Dean and Chaplain to the Kimberley Regiment

One of the images in this video features pipers of the Kimberley Regiment and the Colour Party photographed at the Nov 2010 installation of the Dean of Kimberley, who is also Honorary Chaplain to the Regiment.

As a Communion Motet on 10 Nov 2013 the choir sang The souls of the righteous by Sir Stanley Marchant (1883-1949). This anthem, composed in memory of King George V, is the best known work by Marchant, who was organist and master of choristers at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, 1927 to 1936, before he became Principal of the Royal Academy of Music. The words are from Wisdom 3:1-2

The souls of the righteous are in the hands of God: and there no torment shall touch them. In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: but they are in peace; they are in peace.
