Sister Henrietta Stockdale Annual Health Day at St Cyprian's Cathedral - 8 October 2013

"The Church's voice must be heard again..." said the Dean of Kimberley,
the Very Revd Fr Simon Aiken,
citing former President Thabo Mbeki who had addressed
the recent Provincial Synod of the Anglican Church. The Cathedral was
hosting the annual Health Day, a practical way of commemorating the
work and witness  of Anglican nun and nursing pioneer Henrietta
Stockdale (who was responsible for bringing about the first state
registration of trained nurses in the world).
"Today that voice is being heard loud and clear".
The event, including the Dean's address, was reported by Volksblad:

Health walk through the streets of Kimberley - from Sister Henrietta's
hospital chapel to her grave site at the Cathedral

Church, State, Private and Public Health Sectors march together

In addition of health screening clinics set up on the lawn,
Emergency Medical Services gave practical demonstrations -
including abseiling down the Cathedral Tower
